Mumbai: Metro passengers can now book a single QR ticket for journeys involving multiple lines, ending the hassle of juggling different apps. The new OneTicket app has been launched on the govt-backed Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) network to provide unified ticketing across the city’s Metro corridors. At present, Mumbai has around 70 km of operational Metro lines, while nearly 270 km are under construction. Once commissioned, the network will stretch to 340 km, making it one of the largest in the country. With separate agencies running different corridors, commuters have long demanded a common ticketing system. The app was developed by SequelString with support from Metro One and is now hosted on ONDC. A pilot version was tested earlier this year on the Colaba–Bandra–SEEPZ (Metro-3) corridor. Following encouraging feedback, the upgraded platform is being rolled out to cover all operational lines.Passengers can download OneTicket, log in with a mobile number, select stations, pay digitally, and generate a QR ticket that can be scanned at AFC gates. Up to four tickets can be booked in one go, and the system auto-detects the nearest station.Ravish Sahay, CEO of SequelString AI, said, “This is a landmark moment for commuters as technology and mobility come together.”Nitin Nair, Senior Executive Director at ONDC, added, “A Dahisar to BKC trip can now be booked in one go—no more multiple apps or payments.”Transport planners said the app could ease travel for office-goers moving across business hubs and reduce congestion at interchange points. Officials added that the platform also provides station and route details, making it useful for both daily riders and first-time users.
