Mumbai: Massive fire engulfs automobile shops in Kurla; CRPF rescues 7 from residential tower

MUMBAI: A fire broke out in the early hours of Monday at Kapadia Nagar near the Gurdwara on CST Road in Kurla (West), gutting several automobile spare part shops and storage units. According to the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB), the incident was reported at 2.42 am. The blaze initially classified as Level-I at 2.43 am was upgraded to Level-II by 2.57 am as it spread across multiple adjoining galas covering approximately 3,000 sq ft. The fire was extinguished at 7.24 am. The fire was confined to stocks of automobile spare parts, tyres, electric wiring and installations, scrap, and other materials stored in around 15 to 20 partly ground and ground-plus-one structures. No injuries were reported in the incident. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
