Mumbai: Man dies after fire breaks out in Thane apartment

Thane: A 45-year-old man died after a fire broke out in his fourth-floor apartment at Prathamesh Apartment, Shantinagar, Wagle Estate, late Wednesday night.Fire officials said they received a call around 10 pm and rushed to the spot. The flat owner was found trapped inside and rescued with the help of neighbours. He sustained severe burn injuries and was taken to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital, Kalwa, where he was declared dead on arrival, said Yasin Tadvi, chief of the Thane Regional Disaster Management Cell.Fire-fighters also averted a potential explosion as they safely removed an LPG cylinder that overheated due to exposure to the blaze. The fire was later brought under control.Electrical wiring, appliances, and furniture in the flat were completely damaged in the incident. The exact cause of the fire is under investigation.
