MSEDCL clears new sub-station in Talawade after outages woes | Pune News

Pune: The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) approved a proposal to set up an additional power sub-station in Talawade, Pimpri Chinchwad, following frequent complaints of power outages from the area.A senior MSEDCL official said the existing sub-station with 10 MVA (MegaVolt-Amperes) capacity, located at the Devi Indrayani Society in Talawade, was overloaded due to rapid growth in residential pockets and industrial units in the Talawade MIDC. “The existing infrastructure is inadequate, and during power outages, residents faced prolonged delays due to the absence of any alternative backup power arrangement,” the official said. The proposed 10 MVA sub-station will cater to Talawade and parts of Dehu gaon and it is likely to be ready in the next one year, he added. The officer further said that, in case of a rise in demand for power supply, the officials were forced to implement load shedding for two to three hours. “We followed a demand for an additional sub-station with the head office for more than one year,” he said, adding that the issue was also discussed in a meeting with the local BJP MLA Mahesh Landge and senior officials from MSEDCL in May last year.
