Mumbai: More than two dozen devotees reported losing their personal belongings, particularly mobile phones and gold ornaments, to pickpockets and snatchers during the Ganpati aagman ceremony at Lalbaug on Sunday. Police and are examining CCTV footage to trace the culprits.Among the reported cases, 17-year-old Ayush Bandarkar and his friend lost two high-end mobile phones together worth Rs 1.8 lakh during the procession of Chintamani Lalbaug. Another youth, Shivam Tawre, reported the theft of his mobile phone valued at Rs 14,000, while 19-year-old Pathmesh Natekar lost a phone worth Rs 45,000. Similarly, Tushar Dhumal reported the loss of a mobile worth Rs 35,000, and 16-year-old Abhishek Nag lost a handset worth Rs 18,000. Seventeen-year-old Manthan Shegar reported the theft of his mobile valued at Rs 1.5 lakh.Apart from phones, ornaments were also targeted. A 63-year-old housewife, Anita Dalvi, said her gold bangles worth Rs 1 lakh were snatched, along with a chain valued at Rs 60,000. She even caught hold of the accused, but he managed to flee in the crowd. In another case, Ravindra Achrekar reported the theft of his gold chain worth Rs 90,000.Police have registered the multiple complaints.
