MUMBAI: MLA Rais Shaikh attended the free ration distribution held by Mahim Samaritan Haji Mudassar Patel celebrating 1500th birthday of Prophet Muhammad on Friday.Also called Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi celebrations, the Prophet’s birthday celebrations saw several charitable and philanthropic works by World Memon Organisation (WMO). Ttlhe event saw dozens of deserving parents of Saif Tayyabji Girls High School and Junior College at Belassis Road in Central Mumbai getting free ration kits.“Today is the blessed day and I must congratulate Mudassar Patel for helping these parents. I am so glad to come to this school where my mother too studied and I am emotionally attached to this institution which is empowering the girls,” said Shaikh. He added that daughters must be educated at any cost.Patel who has earned the title of “Mahim Samaritan” for his philanthropic works said that the help is due to team work. “I alone cannot do this. And I am not doing any favour. You deserve it and God wants to take some services from us. I will appeal to you to educate your daughters. Send them to schools regularly,” said Patel. He praised Rais Shaikh for bringing change, first as a corporator, and then MLA of Bhiwandi East.Haseen Aghadi, president of WMO (North India Chapter) too attended the event and appreciated the efforts of Mudassar Patel. He said that in 112 cities across the country, several events, including free ration distribution, medical camps, blood donation camps and other welfare activities, were held to celebrate Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi. Aghadi also said that his organisation would do whatever it can to help the girl students get educated and empowered.
