Mumbai: The state will soon introduce a policy allowing hoardings to be erected on unused govt land, revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said on Wednesday. The owner of the bidding agency should be a resident of Maharashtra and the successful bidder must provide space on the hoarding for govt advertisements free for at least seven days every quarter, he said. He said the lease agreement would be terminated after the fixed period and no extension would be granted under any circumstance. “We are formulating a comprehensive policy [on this]. The policy must be transparent, promote local interests and contribute to revenue generation,” he said. PTI
