NEW DELHI: A major fire broke out in a slum area near Rithala Metro Station late on Friday night, leaving a child injured and one body recovered, officials said.The incident took place in the Bengali Basti locality, situated between Rithala Metro Station and the Delhi Jal Board premises.Fire tenders were deployed at the spot, and efforts to douse the flames continued for several hours before the blaze was brought under control.The injured child is undergoing treatment at Safdarjung Hospital.According to fire officer S K Dua, the blaze, categorised as a medium-level fire due to its intensity, required the deployment of 29 fire tenders.“A total of 29 fire tenders were sent to the site, and the fire has now been brought under control. One child was injured and taken to hospital by ambulance. No further casualties have been reported so far,” he said.
