Man held for woman’s murder confesses to another killing

Pune: The Pune Rural police, investigating the murder of an unknown woman, solved another killing after the arrested person confessed to hacking a man to death who objected to unwanted advances from the accused towards the woman.The accused belongs from Khed taluka. Two separate cases of murder were registered against him with the Khed and the Supa police. “Identities of both the victims are being ascertained,” said an officer from the Pune Rural police.The officer said on Jan 19, naked body of an unknown woman was found on a farm at Kalkhairewadi village near Supa in Baramati, about 75 km from Pune. A case of murder under section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered with the Supa police. “During the investigation, the police collected information about the accused, Jayatu Borkar from Khed, in the murder of the woman,” the officer said.He said the accused was taken into custody on Jan 20. During interrogation, Borkar admitted to killing the woman. “The accused later confessed to killing one other person, who was with the woman. He hacked the man to death near a hillock in Khed taluka on Jan 17. Our teams rushed to the spot and found the naked body of the man with multiple severe wounds,” he said.The officer said Borkar revealed that he did not know both the man and the woman. He claimed that he killed the man as the latter opposed his attempts to establish a physical relationship with the woman. “After killing the man, the accused took the woman to the Supa area and killed her too. Our investigation is on,” the officer said.
