Man arrested for flashing woman in train

Mumbai: An 18-year-old man was arrested by Govt Railway Police (GRP) on Monday for flashing a woman commuter in a Harbour line local between Kurla and Vashi. The accused, Chandrashekhar Yadav, is unemployed, police said. The 29-year-old victim was headed to her workplace at Vashi. She was commuting in the first-class ladies coach of a harbour line local on Monday. Around 11.32 am, Yadav boarded the coach and flashed her. The victim got unnerved. She immediately dialled some of her male colleagues and asked them to come to Vashi station for helping her.When the train reached Vashi, Yadav jumped off before it could halt. The victim also got off soon after. She was alighting a staircase when she spotted her colleagues and gestured in Yadav’s direction. Her colleagues caught hold of Yadav and took him to a ticket checker on the platform. The ticket checker adviced them to take him to the Vashi GRP chowky.A case of molestation was registered under the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita. The case was transferred to Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) GRP in whose jurisdiction the offence had begun. Yadav’s custody was handed over to them.Yadav told the police that he used to work with a caterer a year ago but quit later. His mother lives in Mankhurd and works as a maid.
