Man apprehended in Ghaziabad for sending death threats to Delhi chief minister under influence of alcohol

New Delhi: A 30-year-old man was apprehended in Ghaziabad for allegedly sending death threats to Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta. The accused was identified as a resident of the Panchvati area in Ghaziabad. Officials stated that he was under the influence of alcohol during the incident and acted out of frustration over ongoing family disputes.Originally from Gorakhpur, he was pursuing a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree at a college in Uttar Pradesh. In addition to his studies, he worked as a deed writer.The Ghaziabad police control room received the alert around 11 pm on Friday, after which the Delhi Police were promptly informed. “Once the threat call was reported, a joint task force comprising personnel from both the Delhi and Ghaziabad police departments was formed to expedite the investigation,” a senior police officer said. Within hours, the team tracked down and apprehended the suspect in Ghaziabad.Police reported that on the day of the incident, the accused made multiple calls. “In one of the calls, he requested to speak to his wife or sought help to bring her back home. When he received no response, he became agitated. In his final call, he issued a direct threat to the Delhi chief minister,” police said. They added that he appeared to be intoxicated at the time.During questioning, he claimed that his wife left him between one and one and a half years ago, reportedly due to his alcohol addiction and frequent domestic disputes. He currently lives with his mother. Authorities also recovered two documents with mismatched names, which are being verified. “When we apprehended him, he was drunk. He also stated that he had completed the third semester of his LLB program,” police added..
