Maharashtra govt expands age relaxation for police constable recruitment

MUMBAI: In a bid to fill the vacancies of 15,631 constables in the state police force and prison department, the government has given special relaxation for those candidates whose age limit has expired in between 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025. The Maharashtra government has issued a corrigendum expanding the age relaxation for candidates applying to the ongoing recruitment of 15,631 constable posts in the state police and prison departments.According to the Home Department notification dated September 10, 2025, the earlier Government Decision of August 20, 2025, had allowed candidates who had crossed the maximum age limit in 2022 and 2023 to apply as a one-time special case.However, in the latest corrigendum, the relaxation has been extended to include candidates who crossed the age limit in 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025. These candidates will now be eligible to submit applications for the current recruitment drive.The recruitment process covers 15,631 vacancies in the Maharashtra State Police Force and the Prison Department, arising between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2025. The proposal for this special relaxation was submitted by the Special Inspector General of Police (Training and Special Teams), Maharashtra, through a letter dated September 1, 2025.
