Pune: Compensation will be provided to families of all four victims who died in the Jan 28 air crash which killed deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar in Baramati, said CM Devendra Fadnavis on Monday.In response to a query by TOI, Fadnavis said the policeman’s family would get compensation according to the govt policy. Although the CM said the family of the other three victims would be given compensation from the CM’s relief fund, he did not divulge the amount to be disbursed.Ajit Pawar (66) was travelling from Mumbai in a Learjet 45 aircraft which crashed barely 200 metres from the edge of the tabletop airstrip in his hometown Baramati in Pune district.The victims included Captain Sumit Kapoor with over 15,000 hours of flying experience, co-pilot Captain Shambhavi Pathak with around 1,500 flying hours, personal security officer Vidip Jadhav and flight attendant Pinky Mali.The state police have initiated a detailed probe into the incident. An accidental death case was registered by the Pune Rural police under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and transferred to the Crime Investigation Department (CID), subsequently. Officials said a CID team had started its investigation and was in the process of collecting relevant documents from the Pune Rural police.Meanwhile, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau, functioning under the Union ministry of civil aviation, had also launched a formal investigation to ascertain the cause of the crash.
