Maharashtra chief minister Fadnavis reviews security and preparedness with Navy and Army officers

Mumbai: Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday met Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Western Naval Command, and Lt Gen D S Kushwah, General Officer Commanding, Maharashtra, Gujarat & Goa Area, to assess the security preparedness.The defence spokesperson said that during the meeting, the Navy briefed Fadnavis on the current maritime security situation on the western seaboard and the operational readiness of the Western Naval Command, including aspects pertaining to the coastal defence of the Maharashtra coast. The Army officer discussed nuances and the way forward on military-civil Fusion in the contemporary security landscape. Other key issues discussed included the Indian Army’s effective role in recent flood relief operations, aspects of Rear Area Security, and welfare initiatives for veterans and Veer Naris.The spokesperson added that the deliberations highlighted the strong synergy between the Indian Army and state govt in safeguarding the hinterland, providing humanitarian aid during natural disasters, and ensuring holistic support for veterans and their families.
