Mumbai: The Maharashtra govt’s cabinet sub-committee on Maratha reservation on Tuesday directed the authorities to submit a report on the Satara gazette, as demanded by Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange for the implementation of Kunbi (OBC) benefits to the community.Meanwhile, water resources minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, who heads the state cabinet sub-committee on Maratha quota, said on Tuesday that decisions regarding reservations are already being implemented and there is no question of a rollback. The sub-committee reviewed the implementation of the decision to issue caste certificates based on the Hyderabad and Satara gazettes. “The sub-committee directed the Pune divisional commissioner to submit a report on the Satara gazette of 1818 within three days. Just like the previous GR was issued based on the Hyderabad gazette, the GR on the Satara gazette will be issued based on the report,” said a senior minister. The Satara gazette is supposed to have details of the Kunbi antecedents of Maratha families. The interested candidates will have to provide documents of lineage that will match with the records of the gazette. It will be helpful for their claims, he added.Vikhe Patil informed that cases registered against Maratha protesters will be withdrawn by the end of the month, with district collectors and police superintendents submitting weekly reports to the committee.Compensation to the families of 96 people who died during the quota agitations was already released to district collectors, and steps are underway to fulfil assurances of govt jobs to their kin, including posts in the state transport corporation and industrial development corporation, he told reporters. The minister said that a detailed report was sought about fines imposed on vehicles belonging to protesters during the quota agitation in Mumbai.
