NEW DELHI: As the sun rose over Lodhi Gardens, a quiet act of kindness unfolded— street dogs being vaccinated with love, not force. The free anti-rabies drive was organised by Gaurav Dar of Dulari Animal Care Centre who has vaccinated over 10,000 street dogs across Delhi-NCR—without nets, ropes or force. Local feeders—teachers, writers, defence personnel, homemakers and students—worked alongside the municipal team, maintaining records and ensuring follow-ups.TOI found that each dog there was known by name, called lovingly by those who cared for them. The most adored? Coffee. A young girl had even named her pack after ice-cream flavours—Vanilla, Oreo, Butterscotch— led by the dignified Boss. The message was clear: rabies is 100% preventable, and fear must give way to care, awareness, and coexistence. “They’re part of our weekends now,” said Vaishali, 23, who often plays football here.
