Pune: Land survey for the proposed Purandar airport has entered its final phase with the district administration set to complete the exercise by Friday.District collector Jitendra Dudi said, “We completed 100% of the drone survey covering 1,236 of the required 1,285 hectares across seven villages. The process was peaceful and well-supported by local residents,” Dudi said. The land spread across Vanpuri, Udachiwadi, Kumbharvalan, Ekhatpur, Pargaon, Munjwadi, and Khanwadi will be acquired for the proposed international airport.Land acquisition officer Kalyan Pandhare said six teams comprising three land acquisition officers and six deputy officers from Pune city, Purandar, Shirur, Mulshi, Daund, and Bhor were deployed. “Two drones were used for the mapping. Less than 50 hectares in Pargaon and Vanpuri remain to be surveyed,” he added.The focus will now shift to compensation, which, Dudi said, will begin by Nov 15. “The entire exercise is transparent and with the landowners’ participation. We have received 95% consent and expect the rest to join soon. All will receive equal benefits,” he added.The collector added that the administration is holding regular meetings with local representatives and departments to ensure smooth progress. “Our aim is to avoid delays and ensure that every landholder is treated fairly,” he said.The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) is funding the acquisition, with about ₹4,500 crore earmarked for the process. The amount will be raised through financial institutions and transferred to the district administration after survey verification.Dudi said coordination between departments — revenue, agriculture, and MIDC — was crucial. “We’re using modern survey technology to ensure accuracy and speed. This project will serve as a model of cooperative land acquisition — quick, fair, and transparent,” he added, emphasizing that both survey and compensation disbursal are targeted for completion before the year-end.
