KP woman lodged fake Rs 11 lakh robbery complaint after losing money to black magic practitioner in Rajasthan: Police | Pune News

Pune: Police investigations in the Rs 11 lakh robbery case in Koregaon Park reported on Tuesday revealed that a 29-year-old housewife had filed a false robbery complaint after allegedly losing the money to a black magic practitioner in Rajasthan and attempting to conceal the matter from her family.A team led by senior inspector Vijayraj Doke and sub-inspector Shrikant Chavan of Koregaon Park police, along with senior officials from the crime branch, is probing the case.During the investigation, police examined CCTV footage from the housing society and nearby areas but found no suspicious activity or evidence of the two men described in the complaint.Later that night, the police team decided to verify the facts by recreating the sequence of events described by the woman. During questioning, she allegedly admitted to lodging a misleading complaint and narrated the circumstances that led to it.According to police, the woman was unable to conceive after her marriage and, through a family member, came into contact with a black magic practitioner in Rajasthan, who prescribed certain rituals and remedies. About two years ago, she gave birth to a baby girl, however, the practitioner continued to demand money, prompting her to sell her jewellery and other valuables to make payments. After exhausting her jewellery, the woman reportedly struggled to explain the loss of valuables and the transfer of money to her family. “She was under stress and did not know how to inform her family about the jewellery and other valuables. She then came up with the idea of staging a robbery,” a police officer said.In her complaint, the woman had claimed that she was alone in her flat when two unidentified men barged in and robbed her. The family, which runs a grocery shop in Koregaon Park, lives together in the flat with seven relatives.
