JNU issues guidelines for monsoon semester

New Delhi: Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) issued guidelines regarding the registration process for the monsoon semester 2025, scheduled to begin next month. According to the official circular released by the university, students were required to complete the registration process online and pay the prescribed semester fee within the given timeline. As per the instructions, the registration process was carried out in phases, and students had to pay the fee according to the rates notified in the schedule. Due to an ongoing legal matter regarding the revised hostel fees, students were required to pay the previous hostel fee rates during registration. The circular reads, “Hostel fee will be charged at the old rates. Since the revised hostel rates are sub-judiced, the decision on revised rates will be made as per the outcome of the Hon’ble High Court decision and all concerned will have to abide by the Court ruling.”The university also directed school deans and special centres to assist students with any difficulties they might face during the registration process. To address student concerns, JNU clarified that students admitted in the academic year 2021-22 and thereafter must complete registration using their ID and password. “As per guidelines of UGC, the academic bank of credit/APAAR ID is mandatory for registration in respect of those students who were admitted in the university in the academic session 2021-22 onwards. A separate notification has been issued with clear instructions on how these students can proceed,” the circular states. In another development, the university constituted a board to oversee matters related to lost, abandoned, or unclaimed items within hostels. Depending on the nature of the items, the board will either return them or dispose of them according to university regulations.
