Jewellery worth Rs 2 lakh stolen in Dhayari after thief finds keys in shoe rack | Pune News



Pune: An unidentified man stole gold and silver jewellery worth Rs1.91 lakh from a flat in a housing society in Dhayari on Monday, after allegedly finding the house keys in a shoe rack placed outside the entrance. The theft occurred between 10am and 6.45pm.A 26-year-old woman lodged a complaint with the Nanded City police on Tuesday.“The complainant works with a private firm and is also pursuing higher studies. She is married but currently lives with her parents,” said senior inspector Atul Bhos of the Nanded City police.He said the family had a habit of keeping the house keys in the shoe rack after locking the door.“The accused took the keys from the rack, unlocked the door, stole the valuables and locked the house again before leaving without raising suspicion,” Bhos said.Police examined CCTV footage from the area and identified one individual, not known to residents, entering the society during the time of the incident.“We also checked for the involvement of any local residents but found no evidence. It appears the accused searched the shoe rack, found the keys, and took advantage of the situation,” he added.
