Celebrating the 13th anniversary of the Korean Cultural Centre India, the opening ceremony of the special exhibition Travelling Sketch: Beyond Us, Between Us was held recently at the Centre. The exhibition brought together more than 200 artworks created by four artists, two from Korea and two from India, offering a shared view of travel, observation, and cultural exchange. The Korean artists, Son Sangshin (Bereka) and Heo Dasom, presented works inspired by their journeys across India. In turn, Indian artists Reeka Nartiang and Samiddha Choudhuri showcased artworks created during their travels in the Republic of Korea. The exhibition is open to the public at the Korean Cultural Centre India gallery until 28 February 2026. The opening event began with a guided walk-through, where the artists spoke about their work and creative process. They explained how their travels helped them observe everyday life, traditions, and landscapes, which they then expressed through pen drawings, watercolours, digital art, textiles, and ceramics. Son Sangshin displayed large-scale pen drawings and watercolour works, along with three published books based on her travel experiences. Heo Dasom presented 40 digital artworks that reimagined ancient Sanskrit scripts in a modern visual form. Reeka Nartiang showed textile pieces inspired by Korean masks, as well as drawings and paintings of hanbok and local scenes. Samiddha Choudhuri exhibited ceramic works, a digital series on Korean street food, and pen drawings from different parts of Korea. The exhibition aimed to move beyond travel records and create a deeper cultural connection. Director Hwang Il Yong said, “Travel is the starting point of art and it captures the diversity of the world,” adding that the exhibition hoped to strengthen cultural understanding, especially among young audiences.
