IAF employee booked for drunk driving and smashing breathalyser in Vimannagar | Pune News



Pune: The Airport police have registered a case of mischief and obstructing a public servant from performing lawful duty against a 35-year-old motorcycle rider who allegedly snatched a breathalyser from a traffic police constable and smashed it on the road in Vimannagar around 2.40am on Sunday.Traffic police officer Anand Ramchandra Gosavi (48) later lodged a complaint with the Airport police.

“We have registered a case against the motorcycle rider, who is employed with the Indian Air Force (IAF). We have served him a notice asking him to cooperate with the investigation. The traffic police have also registered a drunk driving case against him,” senior inspector Govind Jadhav of the Airport police said.The officer said the rider was heading towards his quarters from CCD Chowk, where traffic police were conducting checks for drunk driving. “The police personnel found him riding his motorcycle in an inebriated condition. Instead of cooperating, he argued with them and demanded that they stop every other motorist passing through the chowk,” he said.“When the police personnel told him to mind his own business, he abused them. He then snatched the breathalyser from Gosavi’s hand and smashed it on the road, breaking it into pieces,” Jadhav added.
