An officer from the Ravet police said she was added to a group of investors on a cellphone messaging app in July last year. The woman was given training about trading in stocks and later told to download an app to trade in shares and monitor the profit. “The crooks then started telling her to send money to different bank accounts under the pretext of purchasing shares and IPOs,” the officer said.He said the woman transferred money to the bank accounts and saw she was earning a profit in the app. “When she tried to withdraw her money, the crooks cited different reasons and made her transfer more money. The woman transferred Rs55.22 lakh to different bank accounts between July and Sept last year and lost it to the crooks,” he said.
