According to astrology and certain Hindu scriptures, these eight days are considered inauspicious for starting new or significant ventures. It is believed that planetary positions during Holashtak are unfavourable, which may negatively influence important life events.
No Weddings Or Engagements: Marriage-related ceremonies are generally avoided during Holashtak. Many believe that conducting weddings or engagements during this period could lead to discord in married life.
Avoid Housewarming Or Property Purchase: Entering a new home, performing a housewarming ceremony, or buying property is considered inauspicious during these days. Traditionally, families prefer to wait until the period ends.
Pause On Major Rituals: Important Hindu rites such as naming ceremonies (Namakaran), Mundan (first head-shaving), and Upanayana are also typically not performed during Holashtak, as auspicious planetary alignments are considered essential for such rituals.
Delay New Business Or Investments: Starting a new business venture or making major financial investments during Holashtak is often discouraged. Many believe that ventures launched during this period may face obstacles.
Avoid Buying Vehicles Or Valuables: Purchasing items such as cars, bikes, gold or silver jewellery is generally postponed. It is believed that buying valuables during this period may not bring long-term prosperity.
