Pune: The 23km Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar Metro Line is now 94% complete, with trial runs already in progress, senior PMRDA officials told TOI on Saturday. The officials said they are working to meet the April operations target, though the final go-ahead letter from the concessionaire was still awaited. “Work across the corridor’s 23 stations had been accelerated to meet the deadline,” an official said.Developed by PMRDA in partnership with Tata group–led Pune IT City Metro Rail Ltd, the line will integrate with Pune’s existing Metro network in Shivajinagar. ” About 15-17 stations are nearly 90% complete, and trial runs have been carried out along the entire route,” the official said.Recently, Pune MP Murlidhar Mohol reviewed the Metro line’s progress and said 13 of the 23 stations were expected to be ready by April. “Commuter services will begin only after the concessionaire issues the required approval letter, which will also clarify whether partial operations, limited to the completed stations, can begin,” another official said.Mohol has also directed officials to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for a new corridor connecting Khadakwasla to Hinjewadi to further expand the Metro network.
