Girl found dead in Jabalpur, distant kin spotted unconscious in Nagpur | Pune News



Pune: A girl (15) from Raja Bahadur Mill Road, reported missing by her parents on May 25, was found dead on a platform at Jabalpur railway station in Madhya Pradesh on June 17, while her distant relative (22) was spotted in an unconscious state in Nagpur.Senior inspector Ravindra Gaikwad of the Bund Garden police said, “We suspect that the two had consumed some poisonous tablets on their journey to Nagpur or Jabalpur. Further investigations are on.”He said, “The girl was a school dropout. Her relative works as a waiter in an eatery in Ahilyanagar district. Her parents are casual workers.”He said, “The deceased girl was in contact with her distant relative before she was reported missing. According to the Supreme Court’s directive, we have registered a case of kidnapping against the unknown suspect in the case.” Gaikwad said, “While investigating the case, we realised that the girl and her relative were constantly changing their locations by travelling on trains. After escaping from Pune, the duo went to Mumbai. They stayed there for a couple of days.” He said, “From Mumbai, the girl and her distant relative went to Bhusawal and Nagpur. On June 17, we received a call from the Govt Railway Police (GRP), Jabalpur, stating that a girl from Pune was found in an unconscious state on a platform. By the time our team reached Jabalpur, she died under medical observation.” Gaikwad said, “We do not know how and where they consumed the poisonous pills and how the two were found in two different cities. We will record the statement of the girl’s distant relative once he regains consciousness.” The senior police inspector said the girl’s body was brought to Pune on Friday.
