New Delhi: During a robbery investigation in Delhi’s GB Road, police rescued six girls—four believed to be minors—who were allegedly forced into prostitution. Two of the girls presented Aadhaar cards claiming they were adults, but police suspect the documents may be forged and plan to conduct bone ossification tests to verify their ages. The probe began after a PCR call on Aug 22 reported a robbery at a brothel. When officers arrived, the caller was untraceable. While questioning those present, sources said, “one woman informed police that minors were being forced into prostitution.”Acting on the lead, DCP (central) Nidhin Valsan formed a team under the supervision of ACP (Kamla Market) Sulekha Jagarwar. After a week of intelligence gathering, the team conducted a raid and rescued six girls. According to police, four girls appeared to be minors but two of them claimed to be 21 and 22 years old, presenting Aadhaar cards as proof. Police, however, expressed doubts about the authenticity of the documents. “Medical Legal Case (MLC) report noted that their ages appeared questionable. No additional documents were available to confirm the ages of any of the girls,” an officer said, adding that bone ossification tests are now being arranged.A case was registered under sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, along with sections 6, 11, and 17 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.A senior police officer added that the investigation is ongoing, and authorities are actively searching for those responsible for operating the prostitution ring.
