New Delhi: Police have arrested five members of a gang of robbers, who posed as lock repairers and key makers, for smuggling illegal firearms from Madhya Pradesh. Operating from Shahdara district, the gang allegedly targeted houses under the pretence of repairing locks and stole valuables. Cops revealed the group’s involvement in smuggling country-made firearms from villages in Madhya Pradesh. Cops arrested a suspect identified as Ramesh Singh Badole (30) from Nai Sadak in Farsh Bazar on Sept 6. “Three country-made pistols and five .315 bore cartridges were recovered. An FIR under the Arms Act was registered,” said DCP (Shahdara) Prashant Gautam. Badole was also linked to a theft case in Mayapuri. His associate, Satpal (24), was found to be involved in theft cases reported from Mohan Garden and an Arms Act case in Farsh Bazar. Three others — Akal Singh (34), Dilip (34) and Mahesh (29) — were also arrested. TNN
