Maharashtra during Ganesh idol immersions as at least four people drowned and 13 others went missing across various districts

NEW DELHI: At least four people drowned and 13 others went missing during Ganesh idol immersions in different districts of Maharashtra, police said on Sunday.Pune district’s Chakan areaFour people were swept away in separate incidents. Two men were carried away by the Bhama river at Waki Khurd, another at Shell Pimpalgaon, and one person slipped into a well at Birwadi. Bodies of two victims have been recovered so far, while the search continues for the remaining two.Nanded districtThree people were swept away in a river at Gadegaon. One was rescued, while the search is on for the other two.Nashik district Four people were reported missing after being swept away, with one body recovered in Sinnar.Jalgaon districtThree people were carried away in separate incidents, while in Thane district three others were swept away during idol immersion, one body has been found.Amravati districtOne man is feared drowned during immersion rituals.Officials said swollen rivers, lakes and water bodies due to continuous rainfall have worsened the situation. State Disaster Response teams and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed for rescue operations.
