Fountains, LED lights planned at major roads for AI summit

New Delhi: With the India Artificial Intelligence (AI) Impact Summit 2026 set to be held in Delhi from Feb 16 to 20, Delhi govt has started fast-tracking upgrades at key roundabouts and public spaces — all of which are to be completed within a month — with a focus on lighting, aesthetics and quick execution to present a polished, visitor-friendly capital. According to officials, one of the first sites taken up is the roundabout near Hyatt Regency in southwest Delhi, where Public Works Department (PWD) has earmarked Rs 22.78 lakh for improvement work. Officials said the aim is to enhance the junction’s visual appeal and night visibility, which lies along an important corridor used by residents and visiting delegates. Officials said the proposed work would focus on aesthetics and safety, including decorative fountains and colour-changing LED lights on the central island. Bollard lights will be installed along the periphery to reduce dark stretches for motorists and pedestrians.PWD officials said the upgrade is part of a broader citywide push linked to the AI summit. The event will be held at venues across Delhi, with Bharat Mandapam hosting the main inauguration on Feb 19. Several bilateral meetings and side events are also planned. PWD has also been tasked with repairing potholes, fixing damaged footpaths and central verges, replacing missing signage and broken grilles along key routes expected to be used by delegates. Sculptures and fountains are also being installed at select locations.
