Flat owner booked for not disclosing tenant info

Pune: The Kondhwa police registered a case against a property owner and a real estate agent for renting out a 2BHK flat to two Nigerian nationals at Bhagyodayanagar without disclosing their credentials to the police.Senior inspector Vinayak Patankar, in a statement issued on Thursday, said reliable information was received by the foreigner registration office that two Nigerian women were illegally staying in a flat at Kondhwa since May.Patankar’s statement revealed that investigations showed the flat owner rented the property to the Nigerians through a real estate agent without signing a lease and licence or notarised agreement and did not provide information to the police.The police repeatedly conducted meetings with property owners and real estate agents and appealed them to disclose information about their tenants for security reasons.In addition, police displayed banners at housing societies and prominent locations to share information about tenants or else property owners and real estate agents would face action as per law, he added.
