Pune: The Bharatiya Vidyapeeth police on Thursday registered a case against a landlady for renting her property to Suryakant alias Bandu Andekar gang associate Datta Balu Kale (24) without police verification.The city police recently claimed to have foiled an alleged plot by Kale to kill the relatives of rival gangsters Somnath Gaikwad and Aniket Dudhbhate at Ambegaon Pathar. The killing plot was in retaliation of the murder of former NCP corporator and Bandu Andekar’s son Vanraj Andekar on Sept 1, 2024.“The action against the landlady was taken after it was revealed that she rented her property to Kale at Khedkar chawl in Ambegaon Pathar on Aug 30. Kale allegedly conducted reconnaissance on the movements of the two targeted victims,” said senior inspector Rahul Khilare on Thursday.By law, it is mandatory for landlords to share details of the rental agreement, photo and other particulars of any person, in this case Kale, for conducting verification as per the guidelines issued by the Pune police. An FIR relating to disobedience to an order duly promulgated by a public servant under section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered, he added.
