Navi Mumbai: Two separate FIRs have been registered by Kharghar police against two landlords for renting out their respective apartments to eight Africans without submitting the ‘C-form’ on the official govt website, which is mandatory for furnishing the details of the arrival of foreign nationals in India. Thus, they committed the offence of helping the Africans to illegally reside as tenants in their apartments.API Milind Phadtare informed that an FIR was registered against landlord Amit Shroff, a resident of Thane, and an African identified as Ifeanyi Ugochukwo, to whom the landlord rented out his apartment in Chaudhary Heights society in Sector 27, Ranjanpada, Kharghar. This was despite being aware that the foreign tenant was without a valid passport and visa and did not even submit the mandatory rental agreement at the police station. The accused African Ugochukwo, was lodged at Taloja jail for the offence under the provision of the Foreigners Act, 1946.API Arun Chavan said, “Another FIR was registered against landlord Jawed Ali Sayyed for illegally renting out his two apartments to seven Africans in Faujia Mansion building at Farshipada in Sector 34, Kharghar. The seven Africans have not been named as accused as they have been asked to submit their passport and visa.”
