Farmer held for killing elder brother over land dispute

Pune: A farmer (68) was arrested on Sunday on the charge of bludgeoning his elder brother to death following a dispute over land on Friday near Jejuri, about 45km from the city.An officer from the Pune Rural police said Dnyandev Bhame (82) of Mavdi village near Jejuri was found dead in his farm on Friday. The police registered a case of accidental death and began the probe. “The post-mortem report revealed that the elderly man was bludgeoned to death,” the officer said.He said the police found during the investigations that the victim had a dispute with his younger brother over land and took the latter into custody. During the questioning, he admitted to beating up his elder brother. “The suspect told us that he and his elder brother had a dispute over land. They had a quarrel over the issue on Friday. In a fit of rage, the suspect beat him up and bludgeoned him with a stick,” the officer said.He said the suspect was charged under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
