Mumbai: Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and the senior management of Amazon Web Services (AWS) remotely laid the foundation of AWS’s first data centre in Maharashtra on Tuesday.This is part of their $8.4 billion investment commitment. This is in addition to investments worth $3.7 billion.“I had the privilege of signing this fresh investment at WEF, Davos earlier in Jan 2025. Their entire investment will come in phases over the next 4 years and We had a wide variety of discussions on skilling, digital transformation partnership, and CSR initiatives in Maharashtra including STEM education, renewable energy, and cloud support for startups & MSMEs,” said Fadnavis on X.“I was deeply moved by AWS’s commitment to encouraging STEM education and we also flagged off advanced STEM Education Van that will travel across Government schools, educating 4000 students with digital skills,” Fadnavis added.
