Extortion case: Jailed Sukesh offers 217-crore settlement

New Delhi: Sukesh Chandrasekhar, in judicial custody in a Rs 200-crore extortion case, has approached a Delhi court seeking permission to pay Rs 217 crore to complainant Aditi Singh as part of a proposed settlement.Chandrasekhar sought the court’s permission for the parties to explore a settlement arising out of an FIR registered by the special cell, Lodhi Colony. The plea clarifies that the offer is made “without prejudice” to his rights and reportedly “does not constitute an admission of guilt”. He urged the court to issue notice to the complainant and record that the settlement proposal is genuine and subject to her consent. The plea is stated to be listed for consideration on Jan 3. TNN
