NEW DELHI: The Lawrence Bishnoi group claimed to have targeted a popular Portugal-based Tik Tok influencer, accusing him of human trafficking and labour exploitation. In a social media post shared on Friday, Harry Boxer and Sunil Meena, known associates of the Lawrence Bishnoi-Goldy Brar nexus, took responsibility for a firing incident at a commercial establishment in Marinha Grande, Portugal.The gang also released video footage of the act to back their claims. The shooting came days after a similar incident in Portugal, where the gang targeted Pak-based influencer-turned-terrorist Shehzad Bhatti. Bhatti narrowly escaped the hit and left the country, sources said.The target, identified by the gang as Sukh Jawandha, was warned that the shooting was merely a “trailer” and that failure to change his ways would result in a direct attempt on his life.The group alleged that Jawandha, who holds significant influence among the Punjabi diaspora, exploited Indian migrants by withholding their wages and seizing their passports to blackmail them.The post further accused Jawandha of operating through agents and using women as shields to harm “brothers” of the community. “We have complete information about you and your family,” the warning read, advising the influencer to spend his final moments with loved ones.The post, which ended with “Happy Birthday Lawrence Bishnoi Boss,” featured a long list of hashtags honouring deceased gang members, including Ankit Bhadhu Sherewala and Anuj Thapan, signalling a coordinated effort to project the gang’s reach on an international scale.This incident underscored the growing trend of Indian transnational organised crime syndicates targeting individuals abroad under the guise of “social justice” or settling regional disputes. While Portuguese authorities are yet to release an official statement regarding the casualties or the specifics of the investigation, the brazen public admission sent shockwaves through the expatriate community.Security experts suggest that such public threats are increasingly used by these groups to establish dominance and extort businessmen operating in Europe and North America. A similar incident was reported from Canada a few months ago, where the Lawrence gang opened fire at a businessman’s outlet while making similar accusations.
