Engineers, MBA graduates apply for constable posts in Pimpri Chinchwad | Pune News



Pune: As many as 5,423 over qualified candidates including engineers, law graduates, pharma graduates and MBA holders, applied for the constable posts in Pimpri Chinchwad.A total of 14,779 candidates applied for the 462 constable posts. The Pimpri Chinchwad police started physical tests for them at Sant Dnyaneshwar Sports Complex at Indrayaninagar in Bhosari, which is of 50 marks weightage. The candidates must undergo 100 metre running, shot put and 1,600 metre running.

The process combines strict protocols, including round-the-clock CCTV surveillance. Dedicated medical staff was stationed at the ground to respond to any health emergencies during the physical tests.Supervising the recruitment process, additional commissioner of police (crime) Sarang Awad told TOI, “We are happy to receive applications from highly qualified candidates. These candidates have excellent knowledge in their respective fields. Their knowledge will certainly help the force to cater to challenges like cybercrimes and artificial intelligence (AI).”Of these 5,423 candidates, 649 candidates are postgraduates. These postgraduates included MTech, MBA, MSc, MCA, post graduates in physical education, mass communication and pharmacy. The remaining 4,774 candidates are graduates from different streams, including paramedics, mass communication, BTech, pilot training course and hotel management.It must be noted that the minimum qualification for the post of a constable is Standard XII pass.All the candidates gathered near the main gate of the complex since early morning. Their attendance was recorded through the barcode scanner. After verification of the documents, the candidates were given radio-frequency identification (RFID) tags and chest numbers. They then allowed to appear for the physical tests, an officer from the Pimpri Chinchwad police said.Awad said the physical tests will be conducted until Feb 26. “The selected candidates will appear for the written examination,” Awad said.
