Pune: A 21-year-old engineering student died after a car hit his motorcycle at Rashtrabhushan Chowk in Shukrawar Peth in the early hours of Friday.The Khadak police identified the deceased student as Baliram Chavan, hailing from Jalna district. He was currently residing in Narhe. The accident occurred when Chavan was going from Hirabaug Chowk towards the Khadakmal Ali area around 4am.An officer from the Khadak police said a speeding car heading towards Swargate hit Chavan’s motorcycle. The car driver did not stop after the accident. Residents of the area took Chavan to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead, the officer said.He said Chavan’s elder brother, Shriram (23), a farmer in Jalna, lodged a complaint against the unknown car driver. “Chavan’s brother told us that the deceased was pursuing an engineering course in a city college. Chavan also worked as a food delivery agent,” the officer said.
