New Delhi: Two alleged shooters linked to the Neeraj Faridpuria–Himanshu Bhau gang have been arrested for their involvement in the recent firing outside YouTuber Elvish Yadav’s residence in Gurgaon.The accused were identified as Gaurav Singh alias Nikka (22), a school dropout from Faridabad, and Aditya Tiwari (19), a BCA student from Bihar’s Kaimur district. Police said both were captured on CCTV footage near the scene.According to police, around 5.25 am on Aug 17, three assailants arrived on a motorcycle outside Yadav’s house. Two of them opened fire while the third waited on the bike. Gangster Neeraj Faridpuria later claimed responsibility for the attack on social media. A case was registered in Gurgaon’s Sector-56 police station.A team from the special cell, under the supervision of ACP Rahul Kumar Singh (north range), got intelligence that two shooters were regrouping in Delhi to carry out a murder, allegedly on the instructions of Faridpuria and Bhau. According to the officer, the suspects initially attempted to flee toward the Indo-Nepal border. However, before they could cross over, they were called back to the national capital on a new assignment.Acting on a tip-off and following extensive surveillance, the police laid a trap near the Khera Canal area of Shahbad Dairy in north-west Delhi. It was there that the duo was caught by a team. “Despite being given repeated warnings to surrender peacefully, one of the accused brandished a pistol and made an attempt to open fire on the police personnel,” the officer said. The team overpowered both the suspects and averted casualties.During interrogation, the duo confessed to acting on Faridpuria’s directions. He allegedly arranged for the weapons, funds and logistics for the attack on Elvish. Police found a pistol, four live cartridges, and a mobile phone on the accused. A case was registered under Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act. In the Elvish attack case, Gurgaon police had arrested two persons earlier. One of them was the suspect riding the motorcycle during the attack. The other person had allegedly provided the vehicle.
