Mumbai: The price of eggs, a basic source of protein, has scaled Rs 100 per dozen in Andheri Lokhandwala, Rs 94-96 in Bandra and Bhandup, and Rs 90 in Borivli, Mulund and Navi Mumbai. Traders say rates may rise to Rs 110-120—effectively Rs 10 per egg—by Christmas when demand typically increases.Suresh Paswan of Breadkraft Bakery in Lokhandwala, which sold eggs for Rs 100 Tuesday, said, “We too were happier when rates were lower at Rs 80-84. Now our cost including packaging comes to Rs 94. We expect a single egg to cost Rs 10 by Christmas, or Rs 120 a dozen.”
