Duo killed as LPG cylinder explodes

Pune: A father and son died of severe burns in a fire caused by a domestic LPG cylinder exploding in their home in Gokulnagar Pathar of Warje, around 1.30am on Wednesday.The Warje police identified the victims as Mohan Mudawat (43) and his son, Pappu Mudawat (23). Fire brigade officials found the victims unconscious with burn injuries in the small washroom of their house, during the operation.Station fire officer Prabhakar Umratkar told TOI, “The small house, now fully gutted, was made up of tin sheets and around 10×12 sqft in size. The duo was seemingly asleep when the gas leaked. It is not yet known how the fire began.”Inspector Vishwajeet Kaingade of the Warje police said, “Pappu had gone to their native place and returned to Pune on Tuesday morning. The father-son duo worked as labourers at construction sites. Pappu’s brother works at a hotel in the city. He had a night shift and had gone to his workplace.”
