PUNE: The Pune police have initiated an investigation into allegations made by former IAS probationer Puja Khedkar, who claimed that a domestic help sedated her and her parents unconscious before stealing valuables from their residence, an official said on Sunday. Khedkar contacted the police late on Saturday night regarding the alleged incident at the family’s bungalow on Baner Road, the official added, according to news agency PTI. According to the police, she alleged that a recently hired house help from Nepal administered sedatives to her and her parents, Dilip and Manorama Khedkar, leaving them unconscious. She further claimed that the accused tied them up and fled with their mobile phones and some valuables. Khedkar said she later managed to free herself and informed the police using another phone, the official said. Police noted that she reported the incident over the phone but has not yet filed a written complaint or shared details of other items allegedly stolen. Nevertheless, a probe has been launched, the official added. Last year, a case was registered against Dilip and Manorama Khedkar in connection with the alleged abduction of a truck driver following a road rage incident in Navi Mumbai. Puja Khedkar is also facing allegations of misrepresenting facts in her application for the 2022 UPSC civil services examination to avail reservation benefits. She has denied all the allegations against her.
