Mumbai: A 45-year-old delivery boy employed with a diagnostic centre in Turbhe was killed in a hit-and-run accident near Mankhurd toll naka on Sion-Panvel highway on Monday night, after being struck by a speeding car and run over by a private bus.The deceased, Mohammad Fazil Khan, was a resident of Mahatma Phule Nagar in Byculla. According to the police complaint lodged by Fazil’s brother Parvez, on Oct 6, around 8.10pm, Fazil was heading towards Vashi when a speeding SUV rammed into his scooter from behind near Mankhurd toll plaza. The impact threw Fazil off the scooter, and he was run over by the rear wheels of a bus belonging to Naik Travels. Passersby, including Akash Dhage, pulled him out from under the bus and alerted police. Fazil was rushed to Rajawadi Hospital, where doctors declared him dead at 2.30am on Oct 7.Mankhurd police have registered a case of rash and negligent driving causing death against the unidentified SUV driver and the bus driver, Chain Singh Chauhan. Police are investigating the case and efforts are on to trace the SUV driver.
