NEW DELHI: A 27-year-old businessman was allegedly beaten to death by three of his friends following a quarrel at a late-night party in Rohini. The three accused, all residents of Burari, have been arrested, while two others remain on the run. The deceased has been identified as Habib Rehman, also a resident of Sant Nagar, Burari.
Police said a PCR call was received at Burari police station around 1pm on Sunday. The caller reported that Rehman, who had been assaulted by his friends, had died during treatment. “Investigations revealed that on the night of Sept 5 (Friday), Rehman attended a party with five friends at a lounge. Later, the group moved to a bar at W Mall in Rohini, where a minor dispute broke out. Friends drove man to farm, beat him Businessman Habib Rehman Rehman allegedly struck the main accused with a beer bottle, following which the man and his cousin retaliated and began assaulting him. The group then allegedly forced Rehman into the boot of a car and drove him to a dairy farm owned by one of the accused, where he was beaten with sticks,” a senior police officer said.“Around 4.30am, three of the accused brought him to Burari, where his brother Sabir pleaded with them to admit him to hospital. However, police said the accused refused, changed Rehman’s clothes, and left the place,” the officer added.It was only the next morning that Rehman was finally taken to a Burari hospital, where doctors declared him dead.Based on the complaint, an FIR under sections 103 (murder), 140(kidnapping or abducting in order to murder or for ransom, etc) and 3(5)(common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered at South Rohini police station.
