Delhi goes green & gleaming: Civic plan to boost parks, roads, art, lighting; MCD to complete by Jan 31
Delhi is enhancing its green cover with the plantation of non-thorny flowering plants in parks and market areas

NEW DELHI: Green cover with plantation of non-thorny flowering plants at key parks and market roads; vertical greens on Metro/bridge pillars at major junctions, including Sarai Kale Khan, South Ex, Malviya Nagar, Defence Colony and GK-I & IIFOUNTAINS

Ensure operation at major parks and public spaces such as Qutub Park, PVR Saket, GK-II M Block, Waste to Wonder Park, Bharat Darshan Park and Shaheedi Park.WASTE & CLEANLINESS

Place 2,000 bins; clean 3,000 km of medians/dividers and 5,000 metres of footpaths; remove roadside dhalaos and garbage dumps along major corridors.BEAUTIFICATION & PUBLIC ART

Revamp abandoned traffic islands with electric signage; install 50 statues; develop greenery, vertical gardens and sculptures under 16 flyovers.ROADS & FOOTPATHS

Repair 30 roads, fix 11,010 sq m of footpaths and paint/replace 600 manholes.ELECTRICAL WORKS

Remove hanging wires in Old Delhi stretches, heritage zones and around major hotels and monuments in coordination with discoms.LIGHTING

Improve illumination at Civic Centre, Mehrauli, Seven Wonders Park, Bharat Darshan Park and Shaheedi Park.
