New Delhi: A Delhi court on Saturday adjourned the bail plea of the main accused in the fatal BMW crash in which a senior finance ministry official was killed. Deferring the plea, judicial magistrate first class Ankit Garg noted the submissions of Delhi Police that some aspects of the investigation were still pending. Special public prosecutor Atul Srivastava sought an adjournment, saying the accused Gaganpreet Makkad’s mobile phone needed to be examined, her driving licence was to be inspected and the CCTV footage had to be shown to the victim’s wife, who is the complainant in the case. The prosecutor said that the complainant was not medically fit to be examined at present. The court also sought a reply from police on three applications filed by Makkad’s advocate. Two were for preservation of the mobile phone locations of the accused and a driver, while the third was for seeking directions to the investigating officer to paginate the case diary. Meanwhile, the court dismissed Makkad’s plea seeking preservation of CCTV footage after noting police’s reply that the footage of Dhaula Kuan metro pillars 65 and 67 was seized. On Friday, the accused’s advocate mentioned the need to examine the footage of the pillars. Makkad was remanded in judicial custody until Sept 27. Navjot Singh (57), a finance ministry official and resident of Hari Nagar, was killed in the accident on Ring road near the Delhi Cantonment metro station.
