Delhi: 2 arrested for smashing car windscreen, robbing Rs 1.2 lakh in Vasant Vihar

NEW DELHI: Two men have been arrested for allegedly robbing Rs 1.2 lakh and electronic items after breaking the rear windscreen of a car in Vasant Vihar on Saturday night.The accused, identified as Mohd Nadeem and Ravinder, reportedly have a combined criminal history of 13 cases, including robbery, attempted murder and offences under the Arms Act.The incident occurred around 11 pm near Alkausar Restaurant on Palam Marg. The victim had parked his car while his family went inside the restaurant. As he waited in the vehicle and fell asleep, the accused arrived in another car and parked behind him. One allegedly smashed the rear windscreen, while the other overpowered the victim and pushed him inside the car before fleeing with four bags containing cash and valuable electronic items.A PCR call was made shortly after the incident, and a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered at Vasant Vihar police station.“Acting on leads, the team conducted raids in Daya Basti, Inderlok and adjoining areas,” said DCP (Southwest) Amit Goel. “The accused were arrested following technical surveillance and tracking of the vehicle involved.”Police recovered four stolen bags containing Rs 1.12 lakh in cash and valuable electronics. The car used in the crime has also been seized.Nadeem is reportedly involved in nine previous cases of robbery and attempted murder, while Ravinder has four prior cases of theft, robbery and Arms Act violations registered against him
