New Delhi: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has signed a contract with Alstom Transport India Ltd (ATIL) to improve the reliability and performance of its oldest and busiest corridors — the Red and Yellow Lines. The collaboration will provide continuous technical support from Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) experts. These lines, operational since 2002 and 2004 respectively, currently use Distance To Go (DTG) technology for signalling. The contract between DMRC and ATIL is valid for six years, with an option to be extended by two years. The partnership focuses on ensuring the availability of adequate onboard spares for the signalling systems and upgrading the existing data logging facility for better root cause analysis of failures. Alstom will provide continuous backend technical support through its global experts for diagnosis and rectification of failures. System audits will also be conducted. “Primary objective of this collaboration is to improve availability, reliability and overall performance of the system through continuous technical support from the Original Equipment Manufacturer experts,” said AnujDayal, Principal Executive Director, Corporate Communications, DMRC.
