Pune: A woman (64) from Pashan lost Rs6 lakh on Wednesday after she tried to return and get a refund on a household article she had ordered from an e-commerce website on June 5.The victim, a housewife, lodged a complaint with the Chatushrungi police station on Wednesday after she secured all the bank transactions done by the fraudsters.According to the police, the victim had ordered a household article. However, she found the article not in proper condition. She ran an online search for the helpline number of the e-commerce website and dialed a number she found. An online fraudster answered her call.Police said the fraudster misled her and guided her to download remote access software on her cellphone. Once the victim downloaded the software, the suspects studied her mobile activities pertaining to the banking transactions. The suspects then took control of her cellphone and executed three transfers from her bank, totalling Rs 6 lakh, using her banking credentials. As the suspects were in control of her phone, she did not receive any messages about the transfers.
